Freshman guard
Amelia Williams had a memorable high school debut as she scored 22 points to lead the Legion Collegiate Academy girls' basketball team to a 47-33 victory Tuesday night over rival York Preparatory Academy in the Lancer's home opener.
Legion took an early 6-0 lead and maintained control of the contest as the Lancers never trailed in the game. Behind 11 first quarter points by Williams, LCA led 13-8 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 24-16 at halftime. The lead ballooned to 36-16 at the end of three quarters as the Lancers held YPA scoreless in the period.
In addition to Williams' production, sophomore guard
Jaylen McMurray reached double figures with 13 points. YPA was led by center M. Peyton who scored 24 of her team's 33 points.
