EOC Testing

The End of Course Examination Program (EOCEP) is a statewide assessment program for core courses awarded units of credit in English, mathematics, science, and social studies as defined by the State Board of Education. The EOCEP encourages instruction in the specific academic standards for the courses, encourages student achievement, and documents the level of students' mastery of the academic standards.

EOC examination scores count 20 percent (20%) in the calculation of the student's final grade in the specified courses: Algebra 1, Biology 1, English 2, and US History and Constitution.

Use of a cell phone or any other unapproved electronic device (smart watch, etc.) during the administration of state tests is strictly prohibited. Any instance will be regarded as cheating, and the student's test will be invalidated with appropriate disciplinary action to follow.

Career Readiness Assessment

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test (ASVAB) is a career exploration/skills test designed to measure student aptitude, or capacity for learning, in 8 areas: General Science, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto & Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension. 10th-12th grade students (whether they are military bound, college bound, or workforce bound) complete this test to help identify weak/strong areas of aptitude.

All Juniors will also take a state mandated career readiness assessment in the spring.

College Readiness Assessments

The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is offered to all Sophomores. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT. Additionally, Juniors graders electing to take the PSAT by request may qualify for National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships. The PSAT has two sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.  Students will be asked passage-based questions – sometimes accompanied by tables, graphs, and charts – and math problems drawing upon algebra, geometry, and a little trigonometry.

All Juniors have the choice of taking either the ACT or SAT on a school day. Both are tools that assess readiness for college. The ACT is also a timed multiple-choice examination that includes the following tests: English, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing. The SAT is a timed multiple-choice examination consisting of the following tests: Reading, Writing and Language, Mathematics and the SAT Essay.
