Aiden Cherikos scored a game-high 21 points and Mujah Williams added 13 for the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers who fell at Charlotte Country Day on Tuesday night, 80-59. The Lancers fall to 1-5 with the loss.
Country Day took control of the game in the first quarter as it jumped out to a 24-8 lead and never looked back. The home team led 43-17 at halftime and was able to empty its bench as 11 of the 12 players scored. The Lancers gave a valiant effort in the second half as they outscored Country Day 42-37, including a 21-15 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Legion will now prepare for a rematch with crosstown rival York Preparatory Academy on Friday, Dec. 8, that is set to begin at 7 p.m. at YPA following the boys' JV and girls' varsity games.
Legion Collegiate JV Boys--33 Charlotte Country Day JV--71
The Lancer Boys JV team met the same fate against Charlotte Country Day as they lost 71-33. LCA was led by Mattox Cottman with 11 points and Wesley Stewart with 10 as they dropped to 1-3 on the season. Country Day took a 40-9 lead at halftime and cruised to the victory.
