The Legion College Academy boys' basketball team was no match for the tall and talented Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada that rolled out of Rock Hill on Wednesday afternoon with a 87-38 victory over their sister charter high school.

ACA, which improved to 16-2 on the season, placed four players in double figures as the Armada jumped out to a 24-11 first quarter lead and cruised to the win.  The loss drops Legion's record to 3-13 as they will next face Gray Collegiate next Tuesday night in a rematch in West Columbia.

The Lancers failed to have a double figure scorer in the game.  Leading the way for Legion was 6-Jacob Suita with 9 points. Zion Brown was next with 7.  Atlantic Collegiate was led by senior guard Santana Mayes with a game-high 19 points.  Also in double figures for the Armada were 6-10 junior center Jones Lay with 17, 6-7 junior forward Jamie Brooks with 15, and senior guard Elijah Ellison with 10.

The two teams will meet again in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Carolina Forest Recreation Center.

Wesley Stewart DrivesThe Legion JV boys jumped out to an early 11-0 lead and held a 23-19 halftime advantage, but could not hold off Atlantic Collegiate Academy who stormed back to claim a 47-35 win on Wednesday afternoon.

Behind the fullcourt pressure of  its defense, the Lancers took advantage of several early turnovers to score easy layups in the first half, but the tide turned in the third quarter as it was the Armada who turned up the heat defensively and took advantage of Legion's miscues.

Legion's 6-3 sophomore forward Kenyn Walker was the primary reason for the Lancers' halftime lead as he scored 13 of his game-high 20 points in the first half. Nico Byrd chipped in with 6 points.  Atlantic outscored Legion 28-12 in the second half as RJ Vereen scored 9 of his team-high 14 points in the third and fourth quarters. Also in double figures for the visitors was Jeff Williams with 10.
