Legion Collegiate Academy's girls basketball team captured its third straight victory as they went on the road Saturday afternoon to defeat Cheraw High School 52-39 on the strength of
Amelia Williams' second half performance. The win improves the Lancers to 6-8 on the season as they will travel to Gray Collegiate Academy next Tuesday night.
Williams, a freshman guard, led Legion in scoring with 21 points while sophomore guard
Jaylen McMurray was in double figures with 13 points. Williams scored 13 of her game-high points in the second half when the Lancers outscored Cheraw 27-16. McMurray scored nine of her 13 points in the first half to help Legion take a 25-23 lead at intermission. Williams scored nine of the Lancers' 15 points in the third quarter as they outscored the Braves by 10 to take control of the contest. Cheraw, which dropped to 9-11 on the season, placed three players in double figures as My'Shauna Worrell led with 13 points while Sa'Nya Murray and Anyah Banks scored 10 each.
