Devin Long scored 13 points to lead the Legion Collegiate Academy girl's basketball team to a 53-44 win over Charlotte Catholic on Tuesday night at home.
Long, a senior who had missed the last seven games with an injury, provided the spark that the Lancers needed. She knocked down a quick 3-pointer to open the game and help Legion jump out to a 20-10 advantage after one quarter. She finished the first half with nine points to help give her team a 31-20 lead at intermission.
Sophomore guard
Jaylen McMurray also gave a strong effort with 10 points and hit a trio of 3-pointers. Her running mate at guard, sophomore
Amelia Williams, scored nine points while juniors
Aiyana Murrell and
LaKiara Alexander added eight and seven points, respectively.
Legion connected on nine 3-pointers in the game which proved to be a key factor in the victory.
