The Legion Collegiate Academy girl's basketball team lost at Heathwood Hall on Thursday in its first game after being ranked No. 6  in the first MaxPreps poll of the season.

The Lancers are now 6-6 as they continue a busy weekend with games at York Prep Academy on Friday followed by a contest against Julius Chambers School on Saturday in the Queen City Classic.

LaKiara Alexander and Devin Long led the Lancers in scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively, while Amelia Williams also reached double figures with 12 points.

The Lancers trailed 29-27 at halftime and were still down by four points, 46-42, heading into the fourth quarter.  Legion outscored Heathwood Hall 18-17 in the final period, but came up short.
