Aideh Cherikos scored 26 points in his final high school game to lead Legion Collegiate Academy to a 67-55 home win over Legacy Early College on Friday night.
The win was LCA's second in a row this week and ends the Lancers' record at 5-15.
Cherikos, a 5-11 guard, pumped in 13 points in each half as he led all scorers. It was his 7 points in the fourth quarter that helped the Lancers pull away from a 43-43 tie at the end of the third period. Legion led 17-14 after the first quarter thanks to a mid-court buzzer beater by
Nico Byrd banked in the shot. The Lancers extended the lead to 22-14, but could never pull away from the Lions and actually trailed 31-30 at intermission.
In addition to Cherikos' 26 points, the Lancers got 12 points from Byrd, who came off the bench, and 10 from
Zion Brown, another senior guard playing his final game. Legion's third senior, forward Caiden Brzoska, had 6 points in his last game.
