Both the Legion Collegiate Academy varsity and junior varsity softball teams had difficulty scoring runs on Monday against visiting Marvin Ridge High School losing 10-0 and 7-0, respectively.
In the varsity nightcap, Legion managed to get six hits, including two singles by Jamie Noonan and a double by
Destiny Melton, but they could not get a run across the plate. Marvin Ridge, on the other hand, collected 11 hits and drew 10 walks to score its 10 runs. The visitors scored two in the second, added four more in the third, and one in the fourth innings. They added two more in the sixth and closed out with a single run in the 10th.
Amelia Mason started for Legion and allowed six runs on seven hits in three innings. She was relieved in the fourth by Noonan, who had control issues by giving up eight walks in addition to four hits that led to four more runs. Â
