Griffin McKain pitched six strong innings and Legion Collegiate Academy's varsity baseball team defeated Ocean Collegiate Academy 9-1 on Saturday afternoon in the PBR Shipyard Showdown in Charleston.
McKain struck out six, allowed two hits and no runs while not allowing a walk to the Landsharks to pick up his first high school win.
The Lancers collected nine hits off two Oceanside pitchers who also issued eight walks and struck out just one Legion hitter. Leading the hitting parade for LCA were
Tyler Rosario and Andres Lopex with two singles each while
Riley Stiles had two RBI while going 1 for 3 at the plate.
Legion Collegiate will wrap up play at 12 noon on Sunday when they face Wando High School at Shipyard Park.
