The Legion Collegiate Academy varsity baseball team used timely hitting and errorless defense to back the pitching of Coalson Williams and Ryan Burke to defeat the Carolina Royals 5-3 on Monday.

Coalson earned the win as the southpaw allowed six hits and one run over four innings with four strike outs and three walks.  Ryan Burke hurled two innings of shutout baseball.  The Lancer defense came up huge by not committing an error.

Justin Iannetto got the Lancers on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning with a RBI single.  Legion also got RBI singles by Tyler Rosario, Andres Lopez and Matthew Pond and took advantage of eight walks allowed by Carolina's pitchers. Rosario led the Lancers at the plate with a 2 for 4 night to go along with the RBI. 

The Lancers improve to 6-4-1 and will travel to Burford High School on Thursday.
