The Legion Collegiate Academy JV baseball team split a pair of games at Lugoff-Elgin High School on Friday as the Lancers won the first game 8-4 and lost the second one 4-0.

In the opener, the Lancers jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second inning with the big hit coming from Ryan Brakstad who doubled to drive in two runs.  Legion added two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and finished the game with seven hits and six walks.  Brakstad and John Nypaver were the offensive leaders.  Brakstad went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI while Nypaver was 2 for 3 with three runs scored.

Ben Lee started on the mound for Legion and gave up four runs on four hits and walked two in three and one-third innings of work.  Briggs Lee came on in relief and tossed one and one-third innings of hitless baseball to earn the win.

In the second game, the Lancers were held to just one hit, a single by Nico Nunziato.  Brannon Cunningham got the start on the mount and allowed two runs on two hits over two innings to suffer the loss.  He struck out two and walked four. Jack Neal came on in relief in the third inning and allowed the two other Lugoff-Elgin runs on three hits in one and two-third innings of work.  

The JV team is scheduled to play Combine Academy on April 8 in Lincolnton, NC.
