Legion Collegiate Academy split its softball games against visiting Lewisville High School on Tuesday night at Winthrop's Eagle Field as the JV team claimed a 8-5 win while the varsity Lancers lost 5-1 to the Lions.
In the opening junior varsity game, the Lancers jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning as they collected three hits. The biggest blow was a two-run single by starting pitcher
Brynley Gaa. The Lancers added to the lead with two runs in the second as one scored on a sacrifice fly by Gaa. After Lewisville whittled the lead to two with two runs in both the third and fourth innings,
Zoe Davis made it 8-5 with a solo inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the fourth. The game was called in the middle of the fifth inning on a time limit.

Emma Dade led the Lancers at the plate as she went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Gaa had three RBI.Â
The varsity Lancers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but that was the only run Legion could push across as Lewisville pitching limited the home team to just three hits on the night. The Lions tied the game in the third and then scored two runs in the fifth and added two more in the seventh as they won their season opener. For the Lancers, their record drops to 0-2.
