Senior outside hitter
Addison Burke led her Legion Collegiate Academy volleyball team to a 3-1 victory at Weddington High School on Tuesday night as the Lancers improved their record to 18-4-3.
Burke, who will attend Eastern Kentucky University next year, had 18 kills, four service aces, and two digs as Legion claimed the win by the scores of 12-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-10.
Senior setter
Sophie Larner, who reached 1,000 career kills lastt weekend, added to her total by handing out 26 more assists while collecting three kills, three digs, and a block. Senior rightside hitter
Bryanna Young, a UNC Wilmington commit, added nine kills, three aces, and three digs while juniors Any and
Eva Pershin also made contributions both offensively and defensively. Any made seven digs and collected three aces while Eva was credited with five kills, four aces, and two digs.
In the Junior Varsity match, the Lancers fell to Weddington, 2-0 (23-25, 18-25) to see its season record slip to 14-5.
Channing Cannon led the statistics leaders for Legion with nine assists and five aces while Jaida Young contributed five assists, two aces and three digs, and Carlie Covelli finished with five kills and London Winters had four kills.
Legion will return home on Thursday to face Sun Valley High School at 6:30 p.m. following the JV match that begins at 5:30.
