Isaiah Worley scored 32 points in a losing cause on Tuesday night as Legion Collegiate Academy's boys' basketball team lost 76-71 to visiting Gaston Day.
After trailing 45-27 at halftime, the Lancers outscored Gaston Day 44-31 in the second half. Legion outscored its opponent 27-21 in the fourth quarter as the Lancers cut the deficit to only three points at one time.
Worley's scoring outburst was supported by
Nico Byrd and
Shawn Thomason who scored nine points each while
Kenyn Walker had seven, and Jakub Siuta and
Eyan Byrd finished with six points each.
With the loss, the LCA boys are now 5-19 and will travel Rabun-Gap Nacoochee School in Georgia on Friday.
Gaston Day JV--60 Legion JV--43
The Gaston Day junior varsity pulled away in the third and fourth quarters to claim a 60-43 win over the Legion Lancers on Tuesday afternoon. Legion trailed by only five points (25-20) at halftime, but could not get any closer than three points in the third quarter before Gaston Day put the game away in the fourth quarter.
Micah Haynes and Austin Kennedy combined to score 34 of Legion's 43 points. Haynes finished with a season-high 18 points as he connected on eight field goals, including two 3-pointers. Kennedy had 16 points.
