ROCK HILL, SC — Legion Collegiate Academy (LCA) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive student development, earning an impressive "Excellent" rating on its annual South Carolina State Report Card.

This top-tier designation from the South Carolina Department of Education signifies that LCA's performance "substantially exceeds the criteria to ensure all students meet the Profile of the SC Graduate." This exceptional rating is a testament to the school's mission, which centers on a rigorous curriculum, high academic standards, and an environment that fosters the growth of the whole child—academically, athletically, and personally.

Key Indicators of Success

The "Excellent" rating is built upon outstanding results across multiple key areas, showcasing the strength of the school's holistic approach:
  • Exceptional Graduation Rate: LCA achieved an Excellent rating with an on-time graduation rate of 99.2%, earning an almost perfect score of 18.69 out of 19 points. This high rate reflects the school's focused approach to understanding and addressing the individual needs and emotional well-being of its students.
  • Top Marks for School Climate: Earning another Excellent grade (4.25 out of 5 points), LCA proves its success in creating a healthy, positive, and supportive learning environment. The report card highlighted that 97.8% of parents surveyed expressed satisfaction with the learning environment, indicating a strong school-family partnership.
  • College & Career Readiness: The academy also received an Excellent rating for College & Career Readiness, with a High School Student Success rate that stands at a remarkable 100% over a five-year period. This success is underpinned by the school's core philosophy: "Stack Up College Credit Instead of College Debt."
  • Dual Enrollment Impact: LCA is committed to providing pathways to higher education, with many seniors graduating having earned up to two full years of transferable college credit through dual enrollment—an impressive tuition savings for their families. 94% of seniors completed DE classes while 8 earned either an Associates degree or Work Force certification.
  • Academic Gains: Principal Dr. Julie Marshall highlighted the success of targeted instruction and the new Learning Labs, noting improved student performance on key EOC (End-of-Course) exams in subjects like Algebra, Biology, and U.S. History. Student proficiency on state tests often exceeds that of peers in the district and across the state by 10 to 20 percent.

Fostering Well-Rounded Graduates

While academic metrics are crucial, LCA's success extends beyond the classroom. The school's vision is built on three pillars: Academics, Athletics, and Service.
  • Elite Athletics with Academic Priority: LCA's elite athletic program is carefully balanced with a rigorous academic schedule, developing strong character and leadership skills in its student-athletes. The principle is clear: education is the primary responsibility. 57% of the class of 2025 signed to play their sport at the next level.
  • Commitment to Service: Students are required to complete a significant number of community service hours, instilling a sense of responsibility and encouraging them to be contributing citizens. The class of 2025 earned over 9,00 service hours.
The "Excellent" rating on the SC State Report Card is a powerful affirmation of the hard work and dedication of the students, faculty, staff, and families of Legion Collegiate Academy. It solidifies LCA's position as a leading educational institution dedicated to providing a high-quality, comprehensive experience that truly prepares its graduates for success in college, career, and life.
