Elizabeth Desermia collected three hits in four at bats to lead Legion Collegiate Academy's girls' softball team to a  17-3 season-opening win on Monday at Butler High School.

Desermia doubled in the seventh inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Amelia Mason earned the win in the circle as she struck out 13 batters and allowed three hits and three runs over seven innings while walking one.

Legion got on the board in the fourth when Kaylee Belcher grounded out, scoring one run.

The Lancers put the game away with a 10-run explosion in the top of the sixth inning as they put together six hits.  Legion got run scoring singles from Mason, Belcher, Zoe Davis, Savannah Cornwell, and Desermia. Macie Tillman doubled home two more runs during the big inning., an error scored one run, and Mason drew a bases loaded walk to plate the other run.

Legion scored five more runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. The big hits by the Lancers came on a Tillman triple, and doubles by Gracyn Hagler and Desermia.

Legion tallied 13 hits in the game. 

Legion Collegiate Academy's varsity will travel to Covenant Day for its next game on Tuesday.
