Legion Collegiate junior infielder
Emma Dade had a 4 for 4 day at the plate, but darkness won out as the Lancers and Covenant Day softball game finished in a 5-5 tie on Tuesday evening.
Dade singled in the first, third, fifth and seventh innings and drove home the first Lancer run in the third frame as Legion got three straight singles. Legion Collegiate Academy Varsity Lancers opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to three singles.
Brynley Gaa started the game in the circle for the Lancers and went seven innings while allowing five hits and five runs (only one earned), striking out seven and walking two.
Legion's hitters tagged Covenant starter Alison Vandiver for 11 hits and five runs (two earned) over seven innings. Vandiver recorded four strike out four and walked two.
In addition to Dade's four hits, Legion's other seven hits came from catcher
Brooklyn Shirey, who had a two-run single on a 1 for 4 day. Both
Zoe Davis and
Macie Tillman collected multiple hits for Legion. Collegiate Academy Varsity Lancers.
Legion's next game will be on Wednesday, March 5, when it travels to Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, NC.Game time will be 6:00 p.m.
