Legion Collegiate Academy Varsity Lancer fell to Hough 9-8 on Saturday on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning in the Jack Sink Tournament at East Mecklenburg High School.

The Lancers' record drops to 11-8 with the disappointing loss.  Legion had taken a two-run lead in the top of the 7th inning after Tate Olney broke a 6-6 tie with a triple. Ben Lee came on in relief to try and nail down the win, but he was not able to get an out as he gave up a home run to the first hitter he faced, then a double, followed by a walk, and then a two-run single.

Legion lost despite out-hitting Hough 10 to eight. Olney led Legion  with three hits, including the big triple.

The Lancers opened the scoring in the first inning on Hudson Riordan's bases loaded double. Hough made it 3-2 in the bottom of the inning off Legion starter Charlie Bailey with a two-run homer. The home team scored four more runs in the third inning to take a 6-3 lead.

Legion battled back to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the fourth as it put together four singles and a hit batter. Justin Iannetto had a two-run single in the inning Neither team scored again until the seventh inning.

Legion returns home on Monday to face Combine Academy at 6:00 p.m..
