Legion Collegiate's girls soccer team defeated the Hammond School 1-0 on Tuesday in the second round of the Nike Palmetto Cup as Carolyn Tessardi netted the game's only goal.

Lancer head coach Jim Finnerty said his team controlled most of the game and had over a dozen chances to find the net, but the team's lack of quality in the final third of the match allowed Hammond to stay in the game.  

The win improves Legion's record to 10-5-2 on the season.
