The Legion Collegiate Academy softball team fell to Mountain View Prep 8-3 on Wednesday night at Winthrop's Terry Field complex.

The Lancers' record falls to 7-6-1 with the loss.

MVP got on the scoreboard first in the opening inning with the help of an error, but the Lancers came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run to left field by Gracyn Hagler.

Mountain View Prep took the lead for good in the top of the second inning at 4-1. The Lancers trimmed the deficit to one run in the bottom of the third when they scored two runs to make it a 4-3 game, but that would be all the runs they could muster

Richardson earned the win for Mountain View Prep. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Brynley Gaa took the loss for Legion Collegiate Academy Varsity Lancers. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on nine hits, striking out five and walking none.

Hagler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Legion with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Savannah Cornwell also collected two hits for the Lancers.

Braley Richardson, a seventh grader, pitched and batted the MVP Stars to the win. She had three runs batted in while going 2-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Mya Codispoti led Mountain View Prep with four hits in four at bats. Richardson pitched a complete game as she earned the win by giving up five hits, three runs, and struck out nine Lancers.
