Angelia James, who has served as a high school basketball coach for the past 16 years and has worked high level summer basketball camps, including the Dawn Staley Elite Basketball and Youth basketball camps since 2021, is serving her first season as Legion Collegiate Academy’s assistant boys’ varsity coach and junior varsity head coach.Â

James earned a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Gardner-Webb University in 2010 and has served as President of Angelia’s Accounting Services, Inc., a company that provides payroll, bookkeeping, nonprofit, business setup and tax preparation services, since 2010.

She has also served as Assistant Director for James Recreational Camps, a 501c3 organization that helps youth reach their highest potential through sports, workshops and life skills, and she has been President of the nonprofit Patricia L McClendon Huntley Foundation that donates $1000 to a high school senior who is desiring to further their college education.

Since her coaching career began in 2008, James has served as the varsity head basketball coach at Union Academy H.S., Central Academy of Arts and Technology, and Porter Ridge H.S., plus assistant varsity coach at Piedmont H.S. and Metrolina Christian Academy.

James has been awarded the Kemba Walker Coach Award in 2016, and has worked the Achievements Unlimited Camp in 2022 with CEO Fred Whitfield with the Charlotte Hornets, Wingate University’s Women’s Elite camp in 2019 to present, the South Carolina Men’s Basketball youth camp in 2023 and Pro Camps from 2016-2022. She has helped with the recruitment of several players who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

She has been married to Tony James for 21 years, and they have two sons, Antonio and Londen.
