Lori Rey brings a lifelong passion for education, athletics, and serving others to the Legion Collegiate Academy Board. A native of Coldwater, Mich., Lori was born during the historic Blizzard of 1977 and credits much of her determination and resilience to the influence of her high school varsity volleyball coach, Kent Neitzert, who became a trusted mentor and role model during her childhood.
A standout student-athlete at Coldwater High School, Lori participated in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and club sports before earning the opportunity to play NCAA Division I volleyball at Coastal Carolina University. She graduated in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a minor in Recreation Management. One of her favorite college experiences was studying adaptive recreation for children with disabilities, and she fondly remembers traveling across the country with her volleyball team.
Throughout her career, Lori has served in a variety of roles, including preschool teacher, medical device sales professional, and executive director of a nonprofit organization. Her diverse professional background has strengthened her leadership skills while reinforcing her commitment to helping others. Today, she teaches preschool and kindergarten, where she finds the greatest joy in watching young children learn, grow, and build confidence.
Lori considers two of her greatest accomplishments to be competing as a Division I volleyball player and becoming the mother of twins. She and her husband, Chuck Rey, the Athletic Director at Winthrop University, are the proud parents of 10-year-old twins, Siena and Tripp. Their family also includes two beloved dogs.
When she's not working with students or serving the school community, Lori enjoys spending time with family and looks back fondly on childhood memories of camping and adventures with her aunt and cousins. Her favorite snack is dried mangoes, and she enjoys relaxing with a Spindrift sparkling beverage.
As a member of the Legion Collegiate Academy Board, Lori is dedicated to supporting students, strengthening the school community, and helping create opportunities for every child to succeed.
